INFO ABOUT ME

(The shirt says "Official Member of the Piss and Moan about Everything club")

NAME

My birth name is Julia Michelle (last name private).

Before I was born, there was the debate of a name (doesn't everybody do that? *grin*) and my mother already decided on 'Ernest' for a boy's name (which I don't think is all that grand...then again, I don't think the one I have now is, either!) but wasn't sure for a girl. My dad suggested - most likely teasing - that I should be named 'Esmerelda', and I'd be called "Ezzy" for short. My mom had fits over that.
When I was born, it was still 'up in the air' of what to name me. I'm not sure how long it was...a few days, to a week...before one of the nurses said they wanted to call me something other than "baby girl (last name)", and said I looked like a 'Michelle' to her. -- Now, on a personal note, I feel really odd being named by a total stranger!
So, finally, they decided on Julia, after my mother's great aunt. My sister got named after my dad's mother, and I'm a bit jealous. Don't get me wrong, I love my mother and her family...but I feel a little more thought should have been put into it - mother had six months, at least! Oh well...

ALIAS

As mentioned above, my dad suggested "Ezzy" (jokingly, but I personally like it!) so when I first got on the internet, I went by that nick-name.
I'm also called "Jules", or even sometimes "Jule". Some people dub me "Juli", without the 'A' (sheesh, it's one more letter, you lazy people! *grin*)...which I don't mind too much. However, I dislike "Julie" (or any variation) less than I do my original name...I also have a cousin named Julie, so that's another reason I'd rather be called my name.
I've also been called 'Zyrali', from my DarkWing Duck phase. Then I wanted something more cheerful (since Zyrali is the Angel of Death in Swahili tradition), and came up with Vivid-Dawn, emphasizing my attitude on the aspect of starting each new day as a fresh start, clean slate, second chance, and all that good junk!

HERITAGE

I am Caucasian - or 'white', though I don't like being called that...makes me feel like a sheet of paper, or bed-clothes. I'm not quite sure about my genealogy, but I found an old book with some documents, so I'll flip through that when I have some extra time.
The meaning of my last name is French, for "from Spain", as far as I know...however, my dad has ancestors that were royalty of Scotland and England from around the 15th century...and I even found a note about a king of Russia in the late 900's! But, as I mentioned, more research will be done soon!

RELIGION

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) - otherwise known as "Mormon". I'm a mildly active member. Don't really go to church every Sunday, but I do "Visiting Teaching"...that's where two women are assigned to go visit a other women at least once a month. I really only do that, because some of those women don't have other people who keep in contact very much (I'm still friends with an elderly woman that has no close family).

GENDER

I'm female, of course. However, my best friend growing up was quite the tom-boy (her dad owned a garbage disposal business, and the truck shop was next to the house...so, of course, we were around mechanics and truck drivers a lot), and I sort of have a boy-ish personality... but I am not a lesbian. Not that I'm prejudice against them, I just don't participate in that lifestyle.

AGE / D.O.B.

Right now, I'm 30 years old.
I was born on May 18, 1978 on Thursday, at about 3:30 P.M.
My western zodiac sign is 'Taurus' (Chinese zodiac...year of the horse), birthstone is 'Emerald' (ironically, I don't like emeralds), and my birth-flower is 'Lily of the Valley'.

PHYSICAL
I'm 5'1" (or 1.55m) and 85 lbs (or 38.5kg) and rather skinny. In fact, I've been asked several times if I'm anorexic...nope, I just have an extremely high metabolism! When I was a baby, the doctor told my parents that it took as much energy for me to drink (that's drink and digest) a bottle of milk, as it did for a grown person to run a mile! I'm almost always eating, yet can't seem to keep anything from 'disappearing'.

My hair is brown...though in certain light (especially sunlight) it has red and golden highlights. It's straight, and won't hold a curl at all. I usually let my hair grow down to my waist...but every decade or so, I cut it to my shoulders.
I'd rather have black hair, or strawberry-blonde...which I had when I was little, but it darkned as my mother's genes took over.

I've got brown eyes. Sometimes they're lighter...a caramel, dark gold or hazel...or even a little green around the edges. I suppose they change with my moods, but I've never monitored it, so I won't say which colors go with which moods. Maybe I should start keeping track.

I have good health, I suppose. Not as much stamina as most people, but I really can't complain - I've lived 25 years longer than I was supposed to! I used to have kidney problems, but a surgery at 2 years old fixed that. I've had a few heart surgeries, but my heart is still weak (which, due to complicated reasons, made me have a TIA stroke in December 2005), and I have supplemental oxygen to lug around. And...a whole bunch of other things that I could go on about - but like I said, can't complain too much!
For more information on the specifics of my health, read it here.

ABILITIES

Schooling

I went to my mother's Pre-School (which she had until I was about 6 years old or so) between the ages of 3 and 5. Then, I went to the local elementary, but got treated badly from students (or so thought my mother) so I then went to another school up in the ritzy part of town - she drove me there, of course. But, in 6th grade, because all my neighborhood friends were at the local school, and I didn't get to visit my friends at the other side of town often, I finally convinced my mother to let me go back, at least for the last year so I wouldn't be so "out of it" when I got to Jr. High.

Jr. High was alright, considering I had friends from both elementaries, which merged into the same Jr. High (or middle-school, as it's called sometimes). "North Layton Jr. High School" had the mascot of 'Longhorn' (Texan, I think, but they were never specific... all the kids just called it a 'cow'!).
A year before I went to High school, a new building was constructed about a mile away from my house. The first year, I rode my bike or got a ride from a friend. The second year, I finally got my driving license and went myself. "Northridge High School" had the mascot of a knight... finally, something I liked! Being a Northridge Knight was probably the best years of my life...even if I didn't do as well, academically, as I could have...but it was fun! I never went to Prom, but I did go to a few of the other smaller dances.

~~~
I have a high school diploma. Despite the fact that I graduated almost 10 years ago, I have yet to go to college - but that’s alright, since college has no age restriction!
My main interests, are animals and psychology. If the market for an animal behaviorist was good enough to establish a steady career, I’d like to do that. I could teach obedience classes to pet owners, but I’d rather do something more in-depth, like working in a zoo, or wildlife sanctuary.
Talents
When I was younger (about 10 years old), I took piano and singing lessons. Got to about 'novice/average' status, and then slacked off in my lessons and practice. Now, I can barely remember where 'Middle C' is. My mother also enrolled me in ballet, which I hated with a passion - partly because I have a twisted spine, and not limber enough for all those stretching moves (not to mention my boy-ish personality...I’d rather be riding dirt-bikes than wearing pink frilly dresses!).
My favorite artistic thing to do is draw, paint, and write fiction. I've started to get into cross-stitching, if that counts.
The majority of classes I took in high school were art-oriented, but I did it just for fun, not really to learn - however, I did get a few tips to help with my 'free-lance' work.
I suppose website work could be a talent. Since I started over 5 years ago, I've come a long way. However, I still only know the basics... Java, X/DHTML, Flash, and all that fancy stuff, is beyond me! I just do this for fun, anyway. If I was making money off it (which I’d like to do, eventually), then I'd worry about being ignorant!
Also, I love animals, and seem to get along with most of them. I'm a bit skittish around horses, even though they're one of my favorite animals...only for the fact they're more than 5 times my size, and I’ve been stepped on a few too many times! On average, though, I can get most animals to like me...never tried with wild ones, yet. I've done enough study, however, that I know how to interact with both domestic and wild, and 'read' their behavior so that I don't end up getting hurt...or hurting them.
FAVORITES
I never know where to begin with this list! So, for now, I'll do what comes to mind.
Colors
My favorite colors are blue, yellow and silver. When I was little, I liked pink, blue and yellow...then in my teens - probably just like most - I liked black and dark reds & blues.
Really, though, I like almost any color... except for most purples, greens, oranges and browns.
Jewels/Jewelry
I like opals most, but also diamonds, blue sapphires, and black pearls. White-gold and silver are my favorite settings for gems...even though yellow-gold is popular, I don't like it much.
Flowers/Plants
I haven’t really paid much attention to the smell of flowers, so this list will be for appearances only.
Roses are kind of too cliche` for me to really have them as a favorite, though I do like some varieties, such as: white, yellow...silver and blue (do they even grow those colors?).
Tulips and most Lilies are nice, and Crocuses (which grow in front of my house, in yellow, purple and white - I'll take a picture some day, and post it here!).
Food...oiy, this will take forever! Actually, I like almost anything.
Drinks
MILK! I swear I'm addicted to it! Chocolate milk is okay, but not favored. Citrus soda-pop (specifically grape-fruit) and strawberry-kiwi flavors. If it weren't for the fact that alcohol feels like liquid fire, I'd probably like most of those drinks...but as it is, I make a weak screwdriver and can handle that, then there's daquari (or whatever) strawberry stuff I get at the store - that's a little stronger than beer (but, being in Utah, they're all low alcohol content) and rather good. I don't drink much, just for the flavor. And when I did drink, I never got drunk! Tipsy once, but never drunk.
Books.
Bible (Christian - King James version), Clan Of The Cave Bear, Watership Down
I don't read much anymore, now that I've got the internet to keep me busy. I do like science-fiction and fantasy... once in a while, I'll read a suspense/drama. Romance novels are just simply boring, in my opinion, unless they have a good plot...and my friends who do read, haven't given any good suggestions yet.
Music.
I like just about everything. My favorite is older country/western (50's - 80's). So far, I have no favorite song, as I like several for different reasons - whether it be the lyrics, or the tune. My favorite hymns are There Is Sunshine In My Soul and I Stand All Amazed.
Movies.
Bambi, , Cocoon, Flight Of The Navigator
Again, I don't see many shows... the television is on the other side of the house and upstairs, and I rarely have money to rent or go see shows. I like comedies, dramas, fantasy and science fiction. Most chick-flicks I'd rather not see, but some are okay.
Favorite actors: Christopher Lloyd, Dustin Hoffman, Mickey Rooney, Morgan Freeman, Robin Williams, Tommy Lee Jones, Wilford Brimley
Favorite actresses: Jessica Tandy, Sally Field, Whoopi Goldberg,
Vehicles.
Anything made by Chevrolet! I really would like a '65 step-side (that's where it has a little indentation between the wheel-well and the cab, on the outside of the bed) truck. Or, if I was filthy rich, I’d like to get the SSR. But for now, I could be happy enough with an HHR.
Games.
I'm not too good at games. I'm smart, but I just don't have wits, I suppose. Jig-saw puzzles, if those can be called games, are good. Video games I'm rather pitiful at, compared to most people, but they're fun. Board games are better.
Hobbies.
Demolition Derbies (spectator...too poor to be a driver!). Fishing. Fostering shelter cats.
Kind of don't do these much anymore: drawing, writing, reading, "DarkWing Duck" a Disney cartoon series (was canceled a couple years ago) and RolePlaying (on IRC mostly).
Sports.
As stated above, I have a weak heart...I try to stay active, but get tired out rather easily. However, I do like to participate in sports ever so often, when I can (I rarely watch televised sports). Billiards/pool, softball, basketball, biking, hiking, camping, fishing, and bowling!
Quotes
I'm going to make a whole separate page for this part! However, the thing that I say most, is "Feh." which is a word of frustration, or defeat.
Places.
Anywhere outdoors! I love the wilderness. Farms (my grand-father's, definitely!) and forests, specifically.
LIFE
Residence - which isn't going to be specific! I've gotten enough people from IRC that somehow knew where I live! People I don't even know, and a few asked to come meet me! *panic*
But, I'm in Utah, United States of America ... "Mormon’sVille"! Salt Lake City, Utah is not only the capitol of the state, but also capitol of the LDS (Latter Day Saints)/Mormon church. (and yes, Mormons/LDS are Christian).
Possessions -- Car: I currently own a 1996 Buick Skylark. Though I’ve owned several vehicles in the past, all of which (except my BMW) have been General Motors! And I’ve paid cash for all of them...I hate being in debt.
My first car was a silver 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix (LJ package) ... which really isn't as fancy as it sounds. It's one of those big 'boat' kinds, that the stereo-typical Granny would drive. LJ package just means that it has automatic rolling windows, auto-locks on the door and air conditioning (which didn't really work) ... Named "Jezabell" who has officially died a couple of years ago and was donated to the Kidney Foundation.
Then my dad’s friend got a new car, and gave us her old BMW - about the only thing I know about it, was it’s blue and had automatic transmission...I don’t even know what year it was! (I think mid-late 70's). My sister was driving it one day, and an old lady crashed into her.
Then a neighbor had her car for sale, and my dad bought it, to share with me. It was a white Pontiac Grand Am, and I think it was a 1993. It was stolen, and later found with the engine completely ruined - luckily, insurance gave us money for it, and so I bought a 1997 Blazer.
I love the Blazer, except for the fact that it guzzles gas. So after I got married, I spent the rest of the money I saved up, and bought the Buick I have now.
Family.
I live in the basement of my father’s house. When my parents divorced about 10 years ago, my mother moved out - she now lives in Nevada, USA. My sister and her 2 year old son, live with her boyfriend in a neighboring town.
Pets
Second most important other than family (mostly because they are part of the family!) Pets I have right now are:
“In Loving Memory” Pets
Profession.
None...I'm useless.
GENERAL
NOTE! This has a bit of ranting to it...I'm a blabber-mouth!
Over-all, I like to consider myself a good person. I'm not racist...just because people have different color skin, doesn't make them any less of a person, in my opinion. I would've had such a hard time before the integration era (and even now, some people are stubborn about it)! I don't hate anybody... I do, however, get confused and frustrated about why people do things... I don't get mad, either. Not saying I think it's perfectly alright for people to go around committing crimes, and I won't react... I just see no reason to waste bad emotion, when it could be used for good - like trying to help them get their life in better order.
I try to help people when I can, mostly with just being a friend - if I had the funds, I'd definitely give to charity. Just like skin color, having more money doesn't necessarily make anybody better then somebody else...I don't judge the lower-class. There's sometimes circumstances that can't be avoided, that make life hard.
Appearance, too, I'm not close-minded with. About the only reason I would urge a friend or person to not be over-weight, is because it's not healthy...not because I think it's un-attractive (they're actually more snuggly than boney people, like myself *grin*). Or, skinny people, for that matter...it's not good to be too thin, but some people just can't help it. Deformities also don't bother me.. I've got an oddly aligned jaw, and got made fun of plenty of times at school... and I still get certain 'looks' from people in public. But, I don't mind...if they won't take the time to get to know me for ME, it's their loss.
Hopes/Dreams/Plans for the future.
Um...too many? I really wish humans could live longer, there's too much to do! Besides being an animal behaviorist, and maybe get a veterinary degree to go along with it, I'd like to live out in the wilderness, and have a sort of refuge for wounded/orphaned animals.
